Every now and then, I visit a venue that doesn’t just host a wedding — it sets the tone for the entire day. Grand Villa Heights is one such location, with breathtaking views of the Yorkshire coast from its lofty vantage point 600 feet above Robin Hood’s Bay in Ravenscar, North Yorkshire.
Coastal Weddings
As a wedding magician working across York & Yorkshire, I get to see many venues. Some are grand, some are rustic, some are modern — but Grand Villa Heights has a very specific charm: it feels intimate without being small, luxurious without being formal, and relaxed without losing its sense of occasion.
With 54 bedrooms and 6 lodges, it’s absolutely ideal for couples looking to extend their celebrations across a full weekend (something of a trend for 2026!). The venue offers incredible flexibility, allowing you to exchange vows outdoors overlooking the dramatic clifftops, or inside their beautiful chapel. Your wedding photographer will be in their element here, too, with endless panoramic backdrops across the coast.
At the time of writing this, I recently had the absolute pleasure of performing close-up magic at a wedding here, and seeing the venue in action really highlighted why it works so beautifully for couples and their guests. During the drinks reception, as guests mill about between the bar and the stunning outdoor gardens, taking in the coastal views, there is a natural, relaxed energy. This is exactly where mix-and-mingle magic thrives. Later on, as guests move into the room for the wedding breakfast or evening reception, the venue’s layout allows for fantastic table-to-table interaction.

- Embrace the Coast: Advise your guests to bring a light jacket, even in summer. That 600-foot elevation provides stunning views, but a sea breeze can roll in quickly! The day I performed was scorching, but the breeze can pick up.
- Flawless Flow: The transition from the outdoor gardens to the indoor bar is seamless, making it incredibly easy to keep your guests together rather than having them scatter across a massive hotel.
I regularly perform close-up magic and mind-reading at coastal venues across North Yorkshire, breaking the ice during the drinks reception and keeping the energy sky-high between courses at the wedding breakfast.
