The Milner York: A Magician’s Perspective
As a magician based in York, I have the privilege of performing at some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, but the 4-star The Milner York (formerly The Principal) holds a truly special place in my work. It is a stunning hotel located right next to York station, opening in 1878 as The Royal Station Hotel – designed as a unified project with the station to reflect the grandeur of this age of travel. Today it is still a stunning building and a great place for events such as weddings and corporate parties.
A Historic First: My Journey with The Milner
This hotel holds a special place as it was one of the first places in York I performed my magic at a wedding. Since those early days, I have returned many times, but the thrill of walking through that grand entrance never fades. And the staircase – stunning for photos..
Why It Is a Top-Tier Venue
Stunning Victorian Architecture: The building itself provides an immediate “wow” factor for guests arriving by rail or road.
Prime Location: Situated right next to York Station, it’s the most accessible luxury venue in the city for guests travelling from afar.
Versatile Spaces: From the intimate wood-panelled rooms to the grand ballroom, it suits every style of event.
Charity Balls & Christmas Parties
While weddings are spectacular here, the Milner truly comes alive during the “big event” season. I perform here regularly for:
Prestigious Charity Balls: Providing sophisticated entertainment that helps keep guests engaged and generous throughout the evening.
High-Energy Christmas Parties: The Milner is a “great location” for festive celebrations, and my magic often bridges the gap between dinner and the dance floor.
Plan Your Event at The Milner York
If you are planning your wedding, a corporate gala, or a festive party at this historic York gem, visit The Milner York, and of course, if you are looking for entertainment, you can contact me here.
Away from the stage, Adrian holds a Master's degree in Early Modern History from the University of York and occasionally volunteers at York Castle Museum in Victorian costume. When he's not performing magic, you'll usually find him building models, reading, gaming, or exploring his passion for history.
