The Magic Beyond Entertainment: Inspiring Childlike Wonder and Happiness

Have you ever witnessed a magic trick and felt a sense of childlike wonder wash over you, even for a tiny moment?
That’s the power of magic, which, to me, is more than mere entertainment; it’s also a powerful tool for inspiration and happiness!
My greatest satisfaction comes from creating unforgettable moments for others. Even if they are brief, I feel privileged to rekindle the childlike wonder that many people lose as they grow older and face the harsh realities of adult life. However small it may be, for one moment, that person is experiencing happiness, reminding them that there is still magic in the world.

This resonates with what famous playwright George Bernard Shaw observed, “Youth is the most beautiful thing in this world—and what a pity that it has to be wasted on children”.
What is wonder?
Wonder can be described as “a heightened state of consciousness and emotion brought about by something singularly beautiful, rare, or unexpected—that is, by a marvel.”1 As you can see, this sounds like something one would love to witness!
Magic fits the bill perfectly, embodying this definition, with the art form being beautiful and, of course, unexpected, as my spectators never know what will unfold next. Being on the front line and witnessing this act of wonder, where time seems to pause, gives me a great sense of pride and honour.
Moreover, I might even be helping to promote good health! A growing body of research has shown a correlation between positive emotions, especially in people who regularly report feeling awe, and “lower markers of inflammation”.2 Isn’t that amazing? Simply witnessing a magical performance can boost people’s well-being.
To help maintain this childlike wonder, I never reveal the secrets behind what I do, no matter how much people keep asking! Knowing the secrets would diminish the magic itself. With all the troubles we have had in the last few years, pandemics, wars, recessions, etc., I feel that even the slightest spark of joy I can bring is a valuable service.

Magic & Wonder Quotes

See the world through the eyes of your inner child. The eyes that sparkle in awe and amazement as they see love, magic and mystery in the most ordinary things.
